Van Goodwin

Founder & Managing Director

Van Goodwin is the founder and Managing Director of Van Allen Strategies. He has worked with technology and process for the last two decades in private industry, higher education, non-profit, and government sectors. He is passionate about using technology effectively and appropriately to improve organizations and lives.

Van began his career as a systems administrator, eventually transitioning to the management of large technology deployments for US federal agencies including DoS, DoD, DHS, and HHS, as well as non-profit work supporting big data projects for the health care industry. He later managed programs for higher education, with a focus on student services. In starting Van Allen Strategies, he brought that experience to the Fortune 500 commercial sector.

Van also dabbles in research and publishing, and has authored book chapters and articles on Agile management, business process, and telecommunications technologies. He conducted some of the earliest ever academic research on the effectiveness of virtual, internationally dispersed teams.

He is a longtime resident of Washington, DC, and works from remote locales often. He stays engaged in his community through volunteerism and was a three-term President of DC’s Equality Chamber of Commerce.

Van founded Van Allen Strategies in 2014 with a goal to design client engagements that tailor services in ways that major consulting firms cannot. Since then, he and his team have executed dozens of strategic engagements in support of some of the largest and most well-recognized companies in the world.
